Fostering Participatory Rural Governance(RA). Cross-Border Perspective through V4 experience exchange

The team Strategic Analysis supports the EURASIA Charity Public Organisation in implementing the project „Fostering Participatory Rural Governance in RA: Cross-Border Perspective through V4 Experience Exchange“ supported by the International Visegrad Fund and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

Citizen participation in local governance remains underdeveloped in Armenia, despite nearly 30 years of local self-government. This challenge is especially evident in rural areas, where citizens are often unprepared or unwilling to engage actively in community affairs. A key factor contributing to this issue is the limited skills and capacities of local authorities, particularly administrative heads, to effectively involve stakeholders in decision-making processes.

The project seeks to address these challenges by strengthening democratic processes and encouraging citizen engagement in Armenia’s rural regions. The initiative focuses on building the capacity of administrative heads from Lori and Tavush regions, drawing on the expertise and best practices of V4 countries—Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia—in participatory governance.

As part of the project, administrative heads will participate in a hands-on workshop conducted by experienced experts from the V4 region. This workshop will emphasize practical approaches and real-world examples, equipping local leaders with the skills necessary to enhance citizen involvement and promote stronger community ties.
