Supporting Local Producers: Donation of Packaging Machines for Small Businesses in ABL Communities in Georgia

On August 20-21, 2024,  the initiative „Supporting Local Producers: Donation of Packaging Machines for ABL Communities“ was successfully carried out. As part of this activity, special cheese vacuum sealers and necessary packaging materials were delivered to the working zones of the villages Pkhvenisi, Nikozi, Agara, Knolevi, Chorchana, Kvenatkotsa, and Ruisi.

This activity took place within the framework of the project Building Economic Resiliency of Communities Adjacent to the Occupation Line along Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia in Georgia,“ supported by SlovakAid. The project is aimed at supporting cooperatives of small Georgian producers from ABL communities. By donating simple packaging and vacuum machines, local producers will have a better opportunity to prepare their products for the market. A total of 5 manual packaging machines for dried fruits and other products and two vacuum machines for packing cheese and cottage cheese from micro-producers were delivered.

This project emphasizes helping disadvantaged communities in hard-to-reach areas, with special attention given to women producers and entrepreneurs.

This initiative is an important step toward strengthening local economies and supporting sustainable development in the region.
